Carolin Wehrmann is considered one of the world’s best contemporary painters of water and sea. Her first oil painting was created at the age of 12. The artist, who was born in the Rhineland in 1959, studied law in Cologne after graduating from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf. After three years, she pursued her true calling and studied graphic design in Düsseldorf with Prof. Kurt Wolff. Even though she initially worked successfully as an illustrator and designer for advertising agencies, she did not let go of the fascination with the effect of oil paintings by the masters of the 18th and 19th centuries, so she ultimately devoted herself entirely to free painting.
