Volker Kiehn is a freelance artist who has been working as a metal sculptor since 1993. His work is characterized by the combination of hard materials with soft forms. As the founder of the art fair KUNST/MITTE in Magdeburg, he uses stainless steel and other materials to create soft forms and structures. Kiehn’s work is often characterized by a playful approach to sculptures and objects, aiming to create a certain familiarity or even recognition of the individual objects.
He began developing one of his series, “Deformation”, around 2015. Here, clear geometric shapes are created that have been subjected to an external force, creating the impression of natural deformation.
