A series of six lenticular acrylic panels. Single color inkjet prints directly onto 20 LPI lenticular animating lenses, back mounted with 3mm dibond, presented in brushed aluminum frames as specified by the artist.
Julian Opie is one of Britain's best-known contemporary artists. He has exhibited all over the world. His language is instantly recognizable with his reductive style evoking a visual and spatial experience of the world around us. Drawing influences from classical portraits, billboards and road signs, popular comics and Japanese woodcuts, the artist combines the clear visual language of modern life with the foundations of art history. The wide range of media and technologies, be it in silkscreen, vinyl, LCD, LED, lenticular and flocking, is not enough for Opie and he continues to push the boundaries of so-called traditional artistic practice.

“Everything you see is a trick of the light,” Opie writes. “Light falls into your eye, light casts shadows, creates depth, shapes, colors. Turn off the light and it’s all gone. We use vision as a means of survival and it’s important to take it for granted in order to function, but consciousness allows us to look at ourselves and see ourselves and be aware of our presence. Drawing, the way the process feels and works, brings consciousness into the present and into the real world, the outside world.”
