Limited edition on paper by Sabine Liebchen, “Neun auf schwarz”
Born 1960 in Düsseldorf
1980 – 85 Studied at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences – Visual Communication
Since 1984 exhibitions in galleries, museums and art fairs.
Since 1989 international participation in group exhibitions in Rennes, Basel, Amsterdam
Even as a teenager, Sabine Liebchen was impressed by an exhibition by the artist Gerhard Richter at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf and even had the opportunity to visit Richter in his studio in 1978. This and other influences such as Manet’s blue-green shadows, Edward Hopper’s play of light and shadow and Vermeer’s use of light find a contemporary continuation in Sabine Liebchen’s works. They are pictures of clear aesthetics and without pomp, but their figures seem almost baroque in their supposedly spontaneous movement and love of detail.
Works of art by Sabine Liebchen can already be found in public museums such as the Schering Museum in the Netherlands or in the collections of the HGN Duderstadt and the APO Bank Düsseldorf. Her works are also particularly valued by private collectors, which is why her works are highly sought-after and rarely available.
