Mixed Media on canvas by Ali Eckert : “Ice steelblue”
Eckert’s unique analog process fuses photography and painting. With his background as a photographer, Eckert has been developing the manual transfer of color pigments for years to create a handmade original work. He skins and paints the pigmented layers by hand on canvas, aluminum and wood. The wet pigments are wiped, squeezed or deformed and accentuated with acrylic. The result is a unique process that composes a dreamy quality into his works. Eckert photographs all objects and scenes, even the smallest components of the finished picture.
Whether a dented Brillo box, a scrapped gas pump or a cracked neon sign in the desert, they all endure in the here and now while drifting into transience.
Eckert embraces American culture and preserves one or two relics from extinction.
Ali Eckert works with mixed media, film and photography in his studios in Berlin and Wisconsin. His work has been exhibited in Europe, China and the USA. Eckert has received international awards and is collected internationally (e.g. Sander Collection Basel, Zagoras Collection Athens, German Art Fund Hungary).
